The beautiful Fig Tree Restaurant, named after the fig tree which is situated in the centre of the clubhouse, has views of the golf course and specifically of the 18th hole and is a wonderful venue to come and relax and get away from it all. A large deck situated under the trees affords "al fresco" dining and we offer versatile menus. This wonderful restaurant is a real jewel on the North Coast.

About our Executive Chef:

In his career, Chef Daryn Bowers has served up culinary masterpieces in some of South Africa’s most idyllic locations, He is excited in taking up his position of Executive Chef at Simbithi Country Club’s Fig Tree restaurant. Chef Daryn started his career as Head Chef at Zest Restaurant, Durban and has had lodge experience in being the Executive Chef and lodge manager of Duma Manzi Private Game Reserve and of Isibindi Africa Lodges – Isibindi Zulu Lodge on the KZN Battlefields as well as Thonga Beach Lodge in Mabibi.

With hotel experience of having worked at Three Cities Urban Park Hotel and Spa, Three Cities The Docklands Hotel and Wodka Restaurant and Signature Life Hotel Jozini Tiger Lodge, to name a few.

His last position held was Executive Chef at the Protea Hotel by Marriott Edward, Durban, where he brought the Grand Dame of the Golden Mile to life with his culinary flair and charismatic personality. Chef Daryn is unquestionably an asset to the Fig Tree Restaurant and Simbithi Country Club.

His depth of experience has given Daryn a vast wealth of knowledge where he has been exposed to many diverse kitchens and mastered many styles of cooking, in his own original way. He is eager to apply this wealth of knowledge and experience to the Fig Tree restaurant. A consummate perfectionist when working with food, he finds it easy to talk to people, is a natural leader and is passionate in everything he does.

His resume is remarkable and his accolades are certainly outstanding.

On a personal front, Daryn matriculated from Maritzburg College and is married with a beautiful little girl and new addition to the family on the way. His hobbies include surfing and beer brewing.
